Foster a Dog

Our prison canine program is structured to give our canine candidates the best possible foundation for a successful service career. There are several different categories for foster homes which are important in helping the dogs in their transition from shelter life to prison environment, and back again into the everyday world outside the prison.

One type of foster home entails fostering dogs that come out of the shelter before going to the prison, and this may take up to three weeks or more. The other role for a foster home would be for the service dogs in training, and this would involve one to two weekends a month or a couple of overnighters during the week.

If you are interested in providing either type of foster home, please read over both our VOLUNTEER APPLICATION and FOSTER HOME APPLICATION. If you have any questions, please call us or send an email. Or if you would like to proceed to apply, feel free to print and complete the forms and mail them to us.
